Streaming proxy

There may be shortages in some sections of the communication infrastructure when systems are distributed across several network segments. This may be the case if the same video streams of a remote site shall be displayed on a central station several times (e.g. in case of an alert on a video wall in the control center and at the same time on several operator workstations).

To prevent this you can use the streaming proxy. It can be configured at any host of the video system. If enabled, video recipients (like workstation, rtsp server, etc.) can request video streams only from the streaming proxy. The streaming proxy retrieves every requested stream only once, and distributes it to all recipients.

Creating a new streaming proxy

Click on Streaming proxy with the right mouse button and select create new object. The following window is opened:

After entering the name the configuration panel will be opened.

Streaming proxy starts on this host

Define the host on which the streaming proxy shall be started. The streaming proxy option must be enabled for the concerning host.

Active

Activates/Deactivates the streaming proxy.

IP address

Allows to bind the streaming proxy to the given IP address. 0.0.0.0 means that the IP address of the selected host is used. However, if a host has several IP addresses you can define the appropriate IP address here.

Port

Defines the port number for the streaming proxy.
