Smoothing

On the "Smoothing" tab, you can select the smoothing:

Figure 1. Archive group selection and smoothing

This panel is used for configuration of smoothing for the selected data point element to reduce the amount of value changes written into the database. The “Smoothing enabled” check box will activate or deactivate smoothing for this data point element. When active, the smoothing type can be selected on the left and – depending on this type – additional parameters can be set on the right. Smoothing is applied to the archive group that is selected (see figure above). Different smoothing options are possible for each archive group. You can select the smoothing for a group from the “Archiving” panel)

For the description of the different smoothing types, see chapter _smooth (Smoothing).

Note: With the smoothBit config entry in the NextGenArch section you can specify which status bits should be considered for a smoothing (low-level old/new comparison before archiving). If one of these user bits changes, the value is not smoothed out even if the original values would not have changed.
Note: The panel only shows smoothing options which are possible for the data type of the selected data point element (e.g. there is no value-dependent smoothing for string values). Also, when an archive config is added to an intermediate node (i.e. not to a leaf node of the data point), smoothing options are limited as they could apply to underlying elements of different data types.
