Operating System Rights

You need local administrator rights to install WinCC OA. For the new Windows versions, this means that all directories created during this phase are assigned to a user with administrator rights. Due to the system of directory rights, an already installed project (DemoApplication_<version>, GettingStarted_<version> ) might not work correctly under another user with minor rights. In this case, set the directory rights for the project directories (and the subdirectories) to a level possible for the selected main user.

Write Protection when Saving on CD-ROM

If you burn whole project directories on a CD-ROM, consider the write permissions. Normally, all files and directories copied from a CD-ROM, comprise an active write protection on operating system level. You have to reset it using the file explorer or the Windows command line tool attrib (you can find the instruction in the help for the operating system). Ideally, you save projects only in the form of compressed files on a CD-ROM.
