Fault Concept in WinCC OA

WinCC OA provides a variety of functions and properties to ensure fault tolerance and stability. All measurements are designed to cope with single point faults. This implies, that a multitude of failure cases are handled but not combinations of these failures.

This means for example in case of redundancy:

• A failure of the network connection on the primary system leads to a switch to the secondary system.
• A failure (crash) of a manager on the secondary system leads to a switch to the primary system.
• A failure of the network connection on the primary system AND the failure (crash) of a manager on the secondary system cause a collapse of the total system.
