Summary and relevant links

The connection to peripheral devices (the device as well as the connections can be configured redundant), which use the specific S7 messaging protocol (for PLCs of S7-300, S7-400 and S7-1200 series) for the communication, can be established with the native S7 WinCC OA driver.

Using the S7 driver in WinCC OA is the easiest way to establish a connection to a Siemens periphery without long engineering times. The addressing is performed via the protocol specific notation or it is also possible to use symbolic addresses when configuring the peripheral addresses in WinCC OA.
