User-defined Login

The user-defined login panel "login.pnl" can be used to log into a WinCC OA system by using different authentication types:

  • WinCC_OA user authentication. User names, user rights and passwords are defined within WinCC_OA. All users must be defined in WinCC_OA so that a login is possible. See chapter User administration, basics.

  • OS Auth. user authentication. An input of user name and password within the login dialogue is checked against the Windows / Linux (Samba4) Active Directory. A login is only possible for existing and active Windows/Linux users.

  • Windows with Single Sign On („SSO“). It is not possible to enter user name / password within the login dialogue. The user name is obtained from the operating system (Windows Login Name) for the Single Sign On. For the Single Sign On, see the description in the chapter Login, basics.

  • OaUserdefined (user-defined authentication) - the user defined authentication allows you to use other non Windows authentication systems such as LDAP. To use this authentication method it is necessary to implement a specific interface. See chapter User-defined external authentication.
