OPC HDA Server

The WinCC OA OPC Historical Data Access (HDA) Server is used for the exchanging of archived process data of the WinCC OA project. OPC HDA uses a client server architecture where WinCC OA only provides an OPC HDA server! Custom clients can be used but the available restrictions of the WinCC OA OPC HDA server must be considered.

Restrictions

Following restrictions must be considered when using the WinCC OA OPC HDA Server:

  • Only the data of the current project (-currentProj) can be used for the OPC HDA server.

  • The OPC HDA server must be restarted if changes are applied to the data point group "OPCHDARead".

  • The OPC communication is not encrypted if a remote OPC HDA client is used. Even if the WinCC OA Proxy is used no encryption is available for the OPC HDA communication.

  • Only following WinCC OA data point types are supported: bool, int, uint, float, bit32 and time.

  • Only the "Item Data Type" OPC attributed is supported

  • No aggregations can be used for the OPC HDA Server
