Licensing Errors - Checklist

If a licensing error occurs, check the following issues depending on whether you use a software container or a dongle:

Software container:

  • Is the correct license container being used?

    For more information on how containers are selected, see chapter WinCC OA Licensing, Further Information. If multiple containers exist, you can specify a container by using the config entry [general] useCMContainerSerialNumber.

  • Has the connection to the license server been established?

    On the clients that want to access the license server, add the address of the license sever to the licensing configuration (Server Search List) – see chapter Server Search List.

  • Are there enough licenses available, e.g. to open a UI on a remote computer?

  • Are the required license options available?

Dongle:

  • Has the dongle been plugged in?
  • Are there enough licenses available, e.g. to open a UI on a remote computer?
