We'll dive into how to create groups in the new WinCC OA license portal. This fantastic feature helps you organize all your available licenses into clear, preconfigured containers, making management much more straightforward. By structuring your licenses correctly, you'll gain excellent transparency and a crystal-clear overview of all your WinCC OA licenses. Ready to begin?
First, navigate to your main profile—for example, Peter Anik. Then, click on Groups and select Add New Group. Let's imagine we're setting up tunnel projects. You'll want to name this new group "Tunnel" and add a helpful description like "Tunnel Projects." This keeps everything perfectly clear and easy to understand.
Great! You'll now see your Tunnel group appear on the left side of your group tree. Now, let's add some subgroups beneath it for even finer organization.
To further organize by region, first select your main Tunnel group. Then go back to Groups and choose Add New Group. For example, if you have tunnel projects in Austria and other countries, we'll name this first subgroup "Austria" and add a description like "AT."
See how quickly our group tree is becoming well-structured and incredibly easy to navigate? We now have Tunnel Projects with Austria nested neatly within.
Now let's add another region—perhaps for tunnel projects in France. To ensure it's at the same level as Austria, make sure you select the main Tunnel group again. So select Tunnel once more, then click on Groups and choose Add New Group. Go ahead and name this one "France."
What if you have a completely different project type, like wastewater projects? We'll go back to the top level and add a brand new group. Make sure you're at the top level of your group tree. Then click Add New Group. Let's name this one "Wastewater Projects."
Now Wastewater Projects sits alongside Tunnel at the same main level. Just like with tunnel projects, we can add regional subgroups for wastewater projects too. Select Wastewater Projects, then Add New Group, and let's call this "Netherlands."
And following the same steps, select Wastewater Projects once more, click Add New Group, and let's create another one for "Belgium." It's all about building that perfect, clear structure.
Perfect! And within each you can clearly see the regional subgroups, making everything incredibly transparent and easy to find. For instance, under Austria within Tunnel Projects, you might have a specific WinCC OA server related to a particular tunnel.
From here, you could even create further subgroups—perhaps for specific cities, tunnel names, or even individual WinCC OA servers if that suits your needs. Or if you prefer, you can decide that this level is sufficient for your organization.
This is where you then manage your individual projects. Typically, you'll use this project level when you're ready to assign containers from your WinCC OA server. Keep in mind, you cannot create further subgroups below the projects level in the license portal.
