We have available licenses within a dedicated project—for example, WinCC OA Server 1 Vienna. Our goal is to assign these license options to a container.
Let's begin by selecting the specific project we wish to manage. Here we'll select WinCC OA Server 1 Vienna. Next, open the Licenses section to view the available licenses that can be activated into a container.
For this example, we will use all three available licenses. You can select all licenses either by clicking "All" or by checking the individual boxes. Now, we'll assign them to a CodeMeter container.
The license portal has detected that no CodeMeter container is available on your current PC. Therefore, it suggests creating a virtual container. This is a key benefit: virtual containers allow you to prepack licenses. You can prepare these packages in the office for technicians or service personnel working remotely.
Let's proceed. Now, we will add a virtual container. We'll name this virtual container "Package One" and assign it to Steve as an example. Steve, working remotely in Vienna, is awaiting this prepacked container. This prepacked package can then be deployed to a real container on site, with the preparation done from the office.
All three license options are now marked. The system asks for confirmation to assign them to this container. Since we've just created this virtual container, it's the only option available in the dropdown menu. Confirming this, we proceed to put the licenses into our virtual container.
Notice that in the WinCC OA Server 1 Vienna project, these licenses are no longer listed as available. To view these licenses, we remove the prefilter. You'll see them again, but their status has changed to "Assigned," indicating they are now part of Package One.
Now, let's navigate to the License Container section. We can close the Licenses section and open the License Container section. Here you'll see our new license container complete with a serial number. Its type is not defined as it's a virtual container, and the description clearly states "Steve." This ensures Steve knows these are his licenses ready for deployment.
