- Redundancy
  The high availability requirements of plant constructors and operators as well as the process and data security can be covered with the redundancy concept of WinCC OA.
- Redundant network connections
  In order to achieve a better fault tolerance WinCC OA Managers can connect to other WinCC OA Managers running on different computers via redundant network connections (this means connecting through two network connections (= IP connection)).
- Alive mechanism of manager connections

Oracle Client Installation

At least one Oracle client version must be installed on each server used and the servers must have a network and TNS connection to the PSS and SSS databases.

Notes when upgrading a redundant project to a Disaster Recovery System

If an existing redundant project should be upgraded to a disaster recovery system, it is important to determine whether datapoint elements of type DP Identifier (dpid) are present in the project. If this is the case, the datapoints must be exported using the ASCII manager before the system number on the SSS is changed. After the configuration of the distributed system on the SSS the datapoint lists (the ASCII file contains the datapoint names) must be imported. Otherwise the datapoint references to theses datapoint elements get lost due to the change of the system number.
