Are the PROFINET and PROFISafe driver of WinCC OA discontinued?

Unfortunately, yes.

We would like to inform you that the PROFIsafe and PROFINET drivers for WinCC OA will be phased out.
This discontinuation applies to all WinCC OA versions and comes into force immediately.

Reason for Discontinuation

Both drivers are based on the PC-based communication processor PCI card CP1616.
Our Siemens hardware colleagues have announced the phase-out for this card effective October 1, 2025.

As a consequence:

• Only existing customers can still place orders for the CP1616 card.

• New customers can no longer order this product.

• In the medium term, the card will also become unavailable for existing customers.

For WinCC OA Version 3.21, this situation is further constrained by the fact that the CP1616 card supports only Windows 10, which is no longer supported by WinCC OA V3.21.

Certification Status

The PROFINET / PROFIsafe driver certification for WinCC OA expired in January 2025 and will not be renewed.
In addition, the CP1616 hardware itself will not be re-certified.

Replacement Product

At present, there is no direct replacement product available for the CP1616 communication processor.
