Hi there,
I wanted to get a better idea of the full scope of features available within WinCC OA regarding the request and display of RTSP streams. We have a system that offers RTSP streams from a media gateway, and I'm looking at WinCC OA version 3.15 and 3.17 on both Windows and Linux for ways to display these streams.
After doing some testing on a Windows machine running version 3.15.27 I've found that I can successfully use the demo version of the video module to add 'cameras' (basically just RTSP URLs) as datapoints in the system, then I can display them just fine using the provided EWO.
I've also been able to get the 'VLC ActiveX Plugin and IE Web Plugin v2' ActiveX control to display the stream by setting the MRL in the extended properties tab.
My question is, before I move over to testing on a CentOS machine, what features can I expect to be available/not available? The ActiveX control isn't available on linux, is it? Is there some other built in way to request and display an RTSP stream that I'm missing? We're setting up a new environment with Redhat machines and I'm worried that the feature set on linux won't be up to the task.
Also apart from the QT version being changed between 3.15 and 3.17, are there any other differences that I should be aware of?
Thanks alot for your help,
Brendan

Re: Requesting and displaying RTSP streams in WinCC OA
The video add on should be available on CentOS.
ActiveX is not available on Linux.
The webengine used in 3.17 should be able to display webRTC streams. So if the RTSP streams are converted to webRTC streams, this might be an option.
