Desktop UI with redundant servers and DRS

Post by akim »

Hi,

WinCC OA version 3.17 P005.

I have 2 redundant servers and Desktop UIs;

Is it possible to connect Desktop UI to redundant server directly? How?
Or do I need separate web-server?

In case if it is not possible, is it accessible to use Desktop UI REDU licenses with standard UI Clients (I mean without using web-server)?

Finlay the system will become Disaster Recovery System.

Please suggest best solution considering that I have Desktop UI REDU.

P.S. Dose standard UI Client support panel synchronization between servers and remote UI?

Hi,

You can have a third machine connected to both your redundant servers, which has only the web server. This required just a config file referencing both servers (as usually in red system). Problem here : single point of failure, and you also need to be careful with panels location.

Otherwise you can use the option -server twice for the remote UI. Problem here : UI will restart if redu switch.

Disaster recovery doesnt impact those.

About sync, if using desktop UI, it is automatically sync indeed.

HI,

Thanks for the reply.

The think is that I don't have third machine for web-server so I wold like to know if it is possible to connect Desktop UI to redundant servers or not without any extra machines.

If solution with Desktop UI is impossible I plane to use remote UI so my second question is If Desktop UI REDU licenses (we have purchased) ok for
standard remote UI?

You should probalby wait for an official answer from ETM or contact your salesperson, but yes the Desktop UI licenses are the "normal" licenses used by the "WCCOAui" User interface Manager.
