Google Maps with WinCC OA

Hi..

Can we use google maps with WinCC OA? I have application where cusomer wants to look into various objects on geographical map like google map.

Is this requirement can be given by WinCC OA or we need to offer solution from WinCC Scada?

Hello,

it is possible to display web-pages in WinCC OA in an embedded browser object (Active X).
If you want to display graphical WinCC OA objects in a map you can use the GIS-viewer.

Not quite Google Maps but this is the level of detail that we managed to achieve using the GIS viewer and our own WMS server. Unfortunately the GIS viewer cannot connect to a tile server which would have been great for performance.

Note, this is only conceptual work that we did a while back.

More realistically though, you are likely to be able to achieve a level of detail like the one on this example... which is perfectly adequate in most cases and offers great integration with the data held in RAIMA or your RDB.

Hi,

You need 3,16 or 3,17 and you need to have the option "gis" in your license. Then you can look in the help there is a full section about adding google maps.

I am not sure but I think that commercial use of google maps data in an app requires special agreement with google as well (license, ...), so be aware of that.

Thank you..I have gis viewer in wincc oa option.but was unable to find mapThemeId and workOffline property as described in help file..can you tell where to find these or how to add?or I will require add on license for using that? I was following Maps EWO Example - Web Map Service from help file

you are looking into wrong section. If you want google maps:

For license you need to have gis = x into your shield file.
