Hello,

During the installation of WinCC OA on OpenSuse 42.1 I receive warnings about missing dependencies:

Now, rpmfind tells me this packages was included in OpenSuse 13.2. How do I install WinCC OA on newer OpenSuse releases?
On what release of OpenSuse is WinCC OA precisely tested?

Yeah, that's a known problem with Leap 42.1. They have included an OLDER package of ICU than was in 13.2 :-(

I created a bug entry at https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=960738
which did not lead to a result.

As stated in our documentation, we have tested WinCC_OA 3.14 with openSuse 13.2

I find that someone has created a package of ICU-53_1 for Leap:
https://build.opensuse.org/package/show ... ackage=icu
but I did not test it.

Try it and tell us.

Hello,

please note that OpenSuse 42.1 is officially not supported.
If you want to use WinCC OA please install one of the supported operating systems.

The supported operating systems are listed in the WinCC OA help --> Installation --> Requirements for WinCC OA --> Software requirements

During the installation I ignored the warnings about the missing dependencies. Afterwards I installed the 'community' package mentioned above and the demo applications seems to start fine now (at first sight).
The document/help files do not work at the moment.

Ill continue to do some tweaking/experimentation and post the results here.

I tested it in a VM by adding the ganglia:musescore2 repository. Install works. OA runs. While OA is not officially supported on Leap, it seems that Leap may be better supported by Novell than 13.2. Is ETM looking into supporting Leap?

As for support lifetime, 13.2 has less than 1 year of support remaining.
"Maintained Regular distributions

The following distributions are expected to receive updates until the specified date:

openSUSE 13.2 - will be maintained until 2 months after release of Leap 42.2 (EXPECTED First Quarter of 2017) "

WinCC OA 3.15 will be available for Linux for RHEL7/CentOS7 and SLES12/openSuse Leap 42. RHEL and CentOS share a set of RPMs as do SLES and openSuse Leap. So in 3.15 there will be again 2 different sets of RPMs for Linux. At least thats the plan for now.

Hi,

Working on openSuse 13.2, while trying to install WinCC 3.14, I get some error messages like

"'_tmpRPMcache_:WinCC_OA_3.14-applications-opensuse=0:0-11' not found in package names.. No provider of _tmpRPMcache_:WinCC_OA_3.14-applications-opensuse=0:0-11' found. Nothing to do.

Is this because of the related version is no more supported?
