Requirements and installation
Requirements
- The Communication Center can be used for all desktop operating systems supported by WinCC OA.
- A license for the Communication Center has to be available. The licensing takes place via the amount of the configured active alarms in active branches of business. If the possible amount of alarms is exceeded when configuring, you have 7 days to get a new license. Otherwise the Communication Center is stopped and cannot be started anymore).
- The Communication Center can be used in single as well as in redundant mode. In the redundant mode note that the active computer is responsible for the forwarding of alarms. If you, however, send a confirmation unintended to the passive computer, you will receive two confirmations since the confirmation is forwarded from the passive computer to the active.
- The Communication Center establishes a connection to all systems of a distributed system. This means, if a datapoint of a system should be monitored and this also exists on the second system, then both are counted and also used.
- Following additional hardware components (depending on what device type is used) are required for the use of the Communication Center:
SMS (GSM)
- A modem. Which modems are supported, see chapter Requirements and installation).
Due to missing drivers the USB interface of the modem can be used for Windows only. For Linux only the serial interface can be used.
- SMTP Server
Note:
This functionality uses the function sendMail(). To use this function on RedHat, the packages
perl-Net-SSLeay.x86_64 and perl-IO-Socket-SSL.noarch must be installed.
