Welcome back to the License portal! Today, we'll learn how to activate a virtual container and assign it to a real one.
First, go to your project where the virtual container is located. Under 'Server 2 single system in WinCC OA,' find the 'virtual container water project' and confirm the container details. Now, let's activate this virtual container onto a real one.
Click the 'Set CM serial of existing CM container' button. When prompted, choose between a hardware dongle or a software container; for this example, select a software container and click on that option.
The system will display available containers on your PC. Select your target container from the list and click 'Set CM serial of existing container.' This action automatically deploys the virtual container to the chosen software container.
A confirmation message will appear once the serial number is successfully assigned. Click 'OK' to complete the transition from virtual to real container.
Since it's no longer virtual, you can rename the container. Click 'Enable Changes' for the project, go to the container, switch to 'Edit,' and rename it to 'Water project.' Finally, click 'Release Changes' to save your updates. And that's it!
