Requirements and Installation

Requirements

  • Correctly installed WinCC OA version
  • A valid reporting license
  • WinCC OA Reporting Manager
  • A reporting tool like BIRT or Crystal Reports, see chapter BIRT, basics.

Installation

A basic installation of WinCC OA is sufficient for using the Reporting feature. For further information on the WinCC OA installation, see chapter Installation.

Inserting the WinCC OA Reporting Manager

  1. Open the WinCC OA project in the WinCC OA console of the server.
  2. Add the Reporting Manager (WCCOAreporting) to the project.
    Reporting 01
  3. HTTPS is supported. The config entry httpsPort = 443 is set by default. To use HTTPS with BIRT, the WinCC OA certificate must be imported into the JVM truststore used by BIRT:

    1. If no certificate exists yet, create one under System Management → Communication → SSL Certificates: create a host certificate of type Certificate for HTTP-server and ensure the correct DNS name is used.
    2. Import the WinCC OA certificate into the JVM truststore used by BIRT.

After importing the certificate, configure the BIRT connection using https:// in the URL.

No further steps in WinCC OA are necessary to use the reporting feature. To create a report, a report project must be set up using the reporting tool BIRT. To this end, you must install BIRT as well as a compatible Java Runtime Environment, as described in the chapter BIRT, requirements and installation.

CAUTION:
HTTP authentication is activated by default for reporting in WinCC OA . BIRT does not support HTTP authentication. Therefore, set the config entry httpAuth to 0 (FALSE) when using BIRT. Additionally, the config entry NofThreads should be set to 25.
