Playback Proxy

The Playback Proxy allows for efficient management and distribution of playback streams within a video system. This configuration panel enables users to define the operational parameters for a playback proxy instance, including host selection, network settings, and activation status.

Datapoint and Description

  • Datapoint: Specifies the data point associated with the playback proxy instance. This uniquely identifies the proxy within the system.
  • Description: Provides a user-defined description for the playback proxy, aiding in identification and management.

Playback Proxy Host Selection

Playback proxy starts on this host: Select the host where the playback proxy service will be started. The dropdown menu lists available video servers. The selected host's identifier is displayed below the dropdown.

Tip:
Use the dropdown menu to select the appropriate video server for the playback proxy.

Activation

Active: This checkbox enables or disables the playback proxy. When checked, the proxy is operational and will handle playback stream requests.

Important:
Ensure the Active checkbox is selected to allow the proxy to process playback requests.

Network Settings

  • IP address: Defines the binding address for the playback proxy. The default value 0.0.0.0 binds the proxy to all available network interfaces on the selected host.
  • Binding port: Specifies the port on which the playback proxy listens for incoming connections. The default port is 9731.
  • Playback port: Sets the port used for playback data transmission. The default value is 0, which typically allows the system to select an available port automatically.
Tip:
If you are unsure which port to use, leave the Playback port set to 0 to allow automatic selection.

Action Buttons

  • OK: Saves the configuration and closes the dialog.
  • Apply: Saves the configuration without closing the dialog.
  • Cancel: Discards any changes and closes the dialog.
