  WinCC OA is used in very diverse computing environments, some of which are easier managed with the use of a enterprise virtualization software. Due to the good encapsulation and platform independence of WinCC OA, the use on a wide range of current versions of the most common virtualization products is possible. Our extensive, automated tests are provided via Proxmox and VMware(vSphere).

Requirements and Installation

Requirements

A Siemens account is required for managing your licenses within the WinCC OA License Portal.
For how to activate a license, see chapter Activate Virtual Container and Assign to Real Container or the other chapters of the WinCC OA WinCC OA Licensing.
Note:
WibuCM TMR Licenses are not supported!

Note:
Time limited licenses (e.g. development licenses) must not be used in an active plant.
Furthermore, these must not be used together with a standard license in the same container.

We recommend using a separate WIBU container per WinCC OA project.

Installation

The necessary components for the WinCC OA Licensing are installed together with WinCC OA.

Host Maintenance

When a Software license container is used (see chapter WinCC OA Licensing) , then the WinCC OA licenses must be deactivated before making any changes to the host. This includes operating system or software updates, and any hardware changes. Information on how to activate a license - see Activate Virtual Container and Assign to Real Container and deactivate a license - see Remove License from Container in the respective sections of the documentation.

Note:

Virtual hardware such as VM or Docker containers also influence the software binding of a license.
