GIS Viewer

I am having an issue displaying roads with street names in the GIS Viewer. The shape file I downloaded from http://www.mapcruzin.com/download_mapcruz.htm ( as suggested in the help section), only displays default grey scale layer, completely devoid of any other information. I assigned layers as stated in the shape files readMe.txt and layer colors using setLayerFillColor(). Still the shape file only shows the default layer.
When I DebugN getNumLayers().....it returns 0. There is obviously something missing, but I am unable to see it. I am simply trying to display a zoomable map of New York City.

Could you post a link to the shape file, that you are using?
Could you also post the panel, that you are using? Or at least the code to load the shape file?

Without this information it is very hard to explain the behavior you see.
