About the version 3.16 for new project.

Post by dongil »

I have a simple question about the version..

I just check the web site there is version 3.16 P001.
I had a project 2 years ago. that time i used version 3.14. it was latest version at that time..

Right now, I am going to have new project.
I just wondering which one is the better for new project.. 3.14 or 3.16 ?
3.16 is just released with patch 001. It seems like there is a litter bug at version 3.16 P001.

Do you have any recommend version for new project ?
When will be finished the support for version 3.14 ? What is your policy about the support finished. ?

The information for the version support you can find at the ETM homepage.
http://www.etm.at/index_e.asp?id=9&sb1= ... eite_id=13

The official support for WinCC OA 3.14 will end when the next version WinCC OA 3.17 will be released.

If you are now starting a new project we would recommend to use WinCC OA 3.16 P001.
When using the newer version you will get additional features and also bugfixes which are not made in 3.14.

I heard about the issue of time of communication with AB PLC ( ethernetIP Protocol )
Is that issue solved with version 3.16 and 3.15 ?? more improved ?
I already know there is patch for 3.12 and 3.14 about that issue.
I have AB PLC on this project that is old version AB PLC.

If a bug is fixed in WinCC OA 3.14 the same bugfix is normally also made in newer versions.
Depending on the time when the bugfix has been made it is maybe necessary to install a patch for newer versions.
