Font issue Win - Linux

Post by genkihenkie »

Hi guys,
We've been using WinCC OA for years with great success.. and since the beginning I have noticed it on our system..
I didn't design the first system, so I did my best to ignore the problem like a pro.
But now that I am developing a secondary system from scratch myself..

I just have to do something about it!
The fonts!!

When I develop on Windows and run something on Windows, perfect!
But now I run it on Linux, it runs out of boxes and the fonts are off.
I know I can work with spacers, but I can imagine there is a better/easier solution.

I am using Win 10 and CentOS 7.2 (and mostly the font MS Shell Dlg)
I already tried changing the standard fall-back font on Linux, but it still not the same on both OS's.

Thanks in advance,

Its not a WinCC OA Problem.

you can install msttcorefonts to get the Microsoft Fonts

Another approach is to use other free fonts which you install with your application and tell the UI to load them via the config file entry "applicationFont".
Free fonts are e.g. the google Noto fonts: https://www.google.com/get/noto/
