Size Data Base
Postby jeissonsierrac »
Hello Good Day
I have question , can I create a data base ilimited for the data point in WinCC OA
I am trying to configure it in the data base configuration panel as shown in the attached image
With that configuration you can configure up to 200 datapoints to archive and for each datapoint up to 500 changes can be recorded. Such an archive file will have 6.3 MB. Because you have configured 10 free entries, a file switch will occur as soon as there are 490 changes recorded for any one datapoint. Then a new file is generated and the whole process starts over. In the next tab of that panel named "Time" you can configure that the files get compressed after they get switched out of active use. See the help for more details. Also in that tab you can configure how many files should be saved on the hard disk. If your datapoints really do change every 5 minutes you can then calculate the length of time that the data will be available before deletion (490 * configured number of files) If your datapoints change less often (for example if you process or machine is not running or no data is being received for any reason) then the data will be available longer, of course. And if any one datapoint in that archive class changes more often than every 5 minutes, the time that the data is available will be less, of course.
With this configuration your archive file has space for 200 datapoint elements with 500 values for each element.
Because you have configured 95% maximum charge a file switch will occur after 475 values are stored for a single datapoint element.
The size of one archive file is limited to 2GB.
Normally archive files are used which do not reach the maximum size.
In one archive several files can be stored. The file is changed at a given time (Tab "Time") or when the defined fill grade is reached.
If you need to store more dp elements in the archives you can also you use several archives. There is no need to store them all in the same archive.
Please check how many dp elements shall be archived and how often they change.
Dp elements with a similar update rate shall be stored in the same archive.
You can also use the predefined archives and modify them according to the project requirements.
For details please have a look at the WinCC OA documentation: System Management --> Database --> History DB
