\"Error during caching stage\" during WinCC OA 3.15 setup

Post by cplasse »

Hello,

I had "Error during caching stage" during WinCC OA 3.15 setup" message when I try to install WinCC OA 3.15 on Windows 2012 R2.

I use "Administrator" as login so it is not a permission problem. I have the same problem on 2 machines, one is a clean Windows 2012 R2 install.

Did someone have this problem ?

Regards.

just for fun, right click on setup.exe and choose "run as administrator" and try it again.

And if that does not help, check if you have enough disc space for the Windows Installer cache on your C drive. You will probably need 2 to 3 GB.

Also verify the integrity of the setup, you can check it with the properties of the digital signature.

Sometimes Windows has some pending updates which prevent a successful installation, a reboot could help in that case.

If that all does not help, create a copy of the install logs (find them in %temp% ) when the error dialogue is still visible and send them to your common WinCC OA support.

Andreas

bad size on download

this error also appears when you have an incomplete download of the installer. You can see if it is bad by checking size of the download against what is expected.

I see this when I download multiple files at the same time from the ETM site.

If you want to check if the downloaded file is correct you can generate a SHA256 check sum and compare it with the information given at the page for the patch download.
