Upgrade 3.9 > 3.14

I have a problem upgrading a project from Version 3.9 to 3.14.

I get the following error message that the version 3.9 is too old for an automatic update and that I should perform a manual update.
I did not found anything in the documentation about versions being too old for an automatic update and also no information about how an manual update would be performed.

Error message:
"WCCOAui (0), 2017.01.12 13:29:48.679, PARAM,INFO, 11/pv2admin, The project D:\\Projects\\XXX has a too old version 3.9 and can not be updated automatically. Manual update is needed."

Any help to solve this problem and get my project upgraded is appreciated.

please check if there is a "source" directory existing in your WinCC OA project.
If it does not exist please create it and try to upgrade the project again.

The source folder was indeed missing and the problem.
The upgrade process started without errors once I created the folder.
