we develop our software on laptops running Windows 7. We recently move our project to the clients running Windows 10 and saw that the fonts (we use ArialNarrow as specified by the curstomer) looked different. A text would not fit the button anymore.
Is this a known behaviour ? Has anyone seen this before .
Is this a setting in Windows 10 ?
Hope you can help
Thx. Frenk Mulder

Re: Font looks different when running a GUI on Windows 10
We experienced the same problems when running panels on Linux vs W7.
The problem was the automatic font mapping that the computers do if they do not have the exact font installed that is specified in the panel. Then they look for a similar font and use it.
We were only able to fix that up by restricting ourself to a set of fonts that are installed and look identical in all our computer environment.
That meant going through all the over 100 fonts that somehow wandered into our panels and reducing them to less than 10.

Thanks Rudi. You were right. The font Arial Narrow is not on Window 10.
I'm not sure why Bill (Microsoft) has decided to remove it.
We installed the font and everything looks ok now
thanks for your fast reponse

Hi Frenk,
Glad to be able to help.
I'm finding that by monitoring this forum I get a lot of useful tips for my daily work, by seeing what problems and solutions other people have.
To quote some unknown philosopher:
"One person who knows the solution to the problem is more help than ten persons who are looking for it"

Rudi,
You are right. I also find the portal quite useful. I learn a lot and sometimes I answer some questions.
Unfortunately, I have the feeling that there's a limited group that is really active on the forum. The forum hasn't reached its full potential.
