Panel Topology Configuration

Post by Tykes »

Still a bit new to the software.
I was still doing navigation manually, when I came across the Panel Topology.

Attached is the topology I'm using, in addition i have 4 panels that can be clicked on.

The issue I'm having is, the buttons that the 3.14 Catalog provide are indicating the panels in my topology are none existing. So even if i want to use panel topology, it doesn't recognize it in the first place.
Any troubleshooting steps I can do to try to fix the issue? Image

only with the screenshot we cannot see why it is not working. Also we cannot see if there are panels defined for the nodes you have created in the topology.
First of all check if a panel is defined for every where it is required.
After defining the topology you have to assign the panels to the buttons in the navigation bar in the topology, depending on the template you are using.

Please give us the information which of the templates you are using and which information is displayed when trying to open a panel.

Yes, so each of the nodes shown before have a panel that directly connects to the desired panel. Using the configuration in the topology panel under the "Panel(incl. rel. path):" heading.
The example template I'm currently using is the "TEMPLATE1".

The issue doesn't deal with the NAV buttons, I can go into the runtime and set the buttons to direct it to a different panel.

I'm having trouble with the button from the 3.14 catalogs. I drag them onto my panel and assign it to a node, then preview in the runtime and click on the button, receiving the error "The panel was not found in the Topology!".

I notice after assigning the button, the $refNumber didn't change. Do the buttons in the panel have to correlate with the buttons in the NAV panel?

I've tested with a button which was inserted to a new panel. The panel which was assigned was opened without problems.
Do you get log message referring to an error when configuring the reference button in GEDI or when clicking on it during runtime?
Which one of the buttons defined in the catalogue have you been using?

I'm learning panel topologies and navigation, too.

I can't understand how to use panel topology navigation backward or up (I think there are some errors in online help about "sdNavigate" function: see examples and "type" parameter values).

I want a navigation button backward or up, but without specyfing the target panelName, because I think it doesn't make sense: if the target is needed, it's not a panel topology navigation (type=1) but a specific panel navigation (type=3).

But if I call:

sdNavigate(1,1,0,"",myModuleName());

I get "this panel was not found in the topology" error.

Thank you.

If you want to have panels for the navigation you can use the panels available in objects/STD_PANELS/PT_*.
Normally there is no need to write own scripts for the navigation.
