Working with Layouts
Postby ChristofferG »
Hi everybody
I'm trying to figure out how to use layouts in WinCC OA?
It seems quite simple in the Online help, but when I try to add a "Spacer" all logic disappears
I have created a simple panel that nearly corresponds to the example in the help. But when I change the LayoutType on the panel from "None" to "Vbox" the spacer and the rectangle in swoops places? Why is that?
Hope someone can give me an explanation how to add spacers to an layout?
I tried the same experiment out on one of my colleagues machine, and here was no problem putting in the spacer.
Then I uninstalled WinCC OA on my own machine, deleted the Siemens folder. Rebooted and installed WinCC OA 3.14 Patch 5 again. Then created a new project still with the same issue.
I noticed two things:
1. Regardless of the reinstall my toolbars and positions of windows in gedi are still the same? Where is this settings stored?
2. When I put in a "Spacer" in a layout the cyan resizing boxes moves to the top left of the panel (See screenshot) It did not do that on my colleagues machine.
I think all of the setting lke that are are stored in
C:\\ProgramData\\Siemens\\WinCC_OA\\pvssInst.conf
Have a look there, or try comparing your file with that of your colleague to see what is different.
I stumbled over this because we wanted to use a different default font for the GEDI.
When that gets changed, then the new font is stored in this file too.
Gedi stores its settings in $HOME/.config/ETM/PVSS00ui.ini (Linux) and somewhere similar on Windows - at least the filename is the same. Here on one win machine I find it at $HOME/AppData/Roaming/ETM/PVSS00ui.ini
I'm pretty sure this has nothing to do with your installation (although it's windows - who knows ).
I can not reproduce your problem.
I just created 2 rectangles and a spacer in the middle, selected all (CTRL-A), clicked on the "horizontal layout" icon in the toolbar,
then clicked on the panel background (or the shortcut to deselect all) and then clicked on the "vertical layout" icon in the toolbar.
All fine.
Martin is right, of course, about the UI settings being in PVSS00ui.in nad not pvssInst.conf.
I got those two files mixed up, sorry.
pvssInst.conf just contains the list of WinCC OA projects that are registered on the computer.
