GIS Viewer very slow.

Post by alku0001 »

Hi all!
I have been playing around with GIS for a while now and the feature is nice but with one huge problem.
The viewer is very slow and with slow I mean that it takes a while when you move around in the map, sideways or zoom in/out.

Tried a few shape files/maps from different sources. But it seem to me that you will need much more CPU power to handle a GIS map or is it enough with CPU alone?
It also depends on how many layers you have and how big the size of the layers are (details) of course.

Tried basic shape files with few details, its a little better but not by much. Every time I move around the map i get a CPU usage of 100%.

Wondering if you had more tips on shape file sources or some examples on shape files. The map I am trying to load is a map of Sweden.

Some of the shape files I got from our provider (the maps that we were supposed to use) is invisible from start but appears only after you zoom in, this means that you are never able to see the whole map since you have to zoom in a few steps.
Tried these shape files on other shape viewers/softwares and they seem to work fine but for some reason it won't show until you zoom in with WinCC OA .... makes me scratch my head.
I have been using 3.13/3.14 and the result is the same on both versions.

Thanks in Advance!

A CPU alone should be able to handle a GIS map. But there are many variables which can influence the behavior of the GIS viewer.

Could you share the code you use to load the GIS viewer? And the output of the 'memoryReport' of the GIS viewer with your maps loaded?
