Hi,

I've been reading the documentation about layers, and found them useful.

Although no explicit mention is done there, I have not managed to assign panel_refs to chosen layer, as if panel_refs were always bound to layer1.

So, panel_refs are inextricably tied to layer1?

PanelRefs are just Panels. They can have multiple Shapes on _different_ layers. When you insert a PanelRef into another panel, then the Shapes from the PanelRef will be inserted in their _constructed_ layers.
