I have designed a wide screen topology for 16:9 and other wide screen monitors. I took the Template2 model and picked the 1600x1200, 1680x1050, and 1920x1200 panels and put the buttons on the right side for the navigation panels.
This is a request from customers who are using the wide monitors more. They feel putting the buttons on the traditional top or bottom takes away from the drawing area creating a letter-box feel on the drawings. Moving the buttons to the right, creates a more traditional drawing area that approximates the 4:5 view that most people are familar.
To use this as a true Panel Topology template, you will need to create the directory /panels/para/PanelTopology/templates and put this new TEMPLATE4 directory structure into it. You can then pick this topology in the Panel Topology tool. I'm not sure why the preview does not work, but the system seems to take this new template.
Let me know what you think of this new template and if there are any problems with it.
Having fun with WinCC OA.

Re: Panel Topologies for wide monitors
This is an update to the original wide screen templates. I discovered that on smaller laptops, the templates were all too large and nothing would display. I have expanded the wide screen templates to include the following which is a better representation of the monitors in use today as well as laptops.
1280x800
1366x768
1440x900
1600x900
1600x1200
1680x1050
1920x1080
1920x1200
I also discovered that there are some details for building these screens that a designer must be careful. The spacing and placement of the boxes and the target zones for the panels must be positioned so that as the screen sizes, that it does not overlap with other objects. https://www.winccoa.com/fileadmin/image ... 0317-3.zip

Re: Panel Topologies for wide monitors
Hi Todd,
I have discovered that the preview for templates is not auto-generated. I took a screenshot of a template that I created and saved it as a PNG file in the /pictures/Para/PanelTopology/templates folder.
If your template is called "Widescreen" you will need to store your preview in a sub-directory with that same name, i.e.
/pictures/Para/PanelTopology/templates/Widescreen/Widescreen.png
Good luck!
