IEC 60870-5-104

Post by amitgolhani »

Hello,

I would like to know whether communication with redundant IEC 60870-5-104 servers ( servers are having unique IP address) are possible with WinCC OA IEC 60870-5-104 client? If yes, then please share configuration details considering one NIC and two NIC at IEC 104 server.

Best Regards,

Hello,

in WinCC OA you cannot define a connection to one PLC as redundant connection with two different IP addresses.
You can define two connections at the panel for the IEC-connections.

At my test with a WinCC OA system as server it worked but it was not possible to establish both connections at the same time. Maybe this is caused by the WinCC OA-driver which worked as server.
If one connection was lost (the network interface was deactivated) the IEC-driver used the other connection for the communication.

Hello Leopold,

Thanks for reply.

As I understood we cannot use PLC with two IP address in IEC 104 driver but configuring two different PLC with single IP address in possible at panel for IEC connection.

Since version 3.10 the IEC driver has support for redundant connections ("IEC104 Edition 2" specification) and you can set multiple addresses for a single device.

Hello Gertjan,

Could you please provide link in online help for redundant connections to set multiple addresses as per edition 2 of the standard?

I have found this information in the highlights of version 3.10, perhaps this information has not been added to the IEC driver part.
