remote wibukey

Post by marcvelarodino »

Hi all,

I am trying to remotely license a workstation with a wibukey dongle connected to another workstation in the LAN. Just for remote maintenance purposes.

I can see the server from the client when scanning the net with the WkSvMon, but when I try to get the hw code from the client's project manager, it doesn't appears the server's dongle code.

I supouse I'm missing something, but with the available documentation I can't get it work.

Both workstations are running Windows 7 64 bits

Hello,

WinCC OA is not supporting the usage of remote dongles. The dongle is always plugged in at the computer where the server project is running. The license which fits the dongles is saved at the WinCC OA installation directory at the server.

If you are using a SEH dongle server you can share the dongles over the network.
A whitepaper for the installation and usage of the SEH dongle server can be found in the following section of the ETM Portal

If I'm right, wibukey supports this feature, so I don't know why is not supported by WinCC OA. ¿Is there any incompatibility or is a design decision?

Hello,

yes you are right, WibuKey supports such a feature.
WinCC OA does not support the usage of remote dongles. As described in my previous posting there is another solution available.
