Installation issue - WinCC OA 3.17 P33

Hello,

I would kindly ask you for help with the following issue. We try to install WinCC OA 3.17 to the clean Windows 10 and also Windows 11, but it always crashd with message:

Setup Failed

Error: 2738

Can you please advise how to solve this issue? Is there any cmd parameter which can be used for installtion to get log data?

We tried:

- install as admin
- installation 3.17 patch 005, patch 014 and the latest downloaded today patch 033
- install on four different laptops - both Win 10 Win11
- search on internet, the solving the issue shall be connected to the VBScript installation, but not clear whcih version

First of all it is important to know that WinCC OA 3.17 is not supported for Windows 11.

Secondly, did you check the installation package with the checksum file?

Are you using a VM to install WinCC OA or did you also test this on a native machine?

Thank you for your reply.

Sorry to miss the information about Win11 compatibility. We will focu on Win10.

We tried to install the softhare only on physical machine, not VM required.

Maybe it is some Windows 10 update, we tested the same installation file with Windows 10 last year and it worked well that time.

Hello, we installed P033 on VM with older version of Win10 and it works. So we will continue with this setup. Thank you one more time for your help and advise.

You are welcome. For your advice - you should considering upgrading to a supported WinCC OA version. 3.17 is not supported anymore. Our current supported versions (always the latest 3 major versions) are 3.18, 3.19, 3.20.
