I would like to kindly ask if somebody has experience with the same behavior of s7 driver as we face. The communication with s7-1512 PLCs is established very slowly and after connection is interrupted, the re-establish process takes minutes. I will be thankful for any ideas.
Our system consists of: 7x s7-1200 PLC and 2x s7-1512.
We checked and set the system properly, configurations on both sides (SCADA and PLCs) were checked several times. With the s7-1200 PLCs it is working as it should be, without any problems.
But connection between PLCs s7-1512 and SCADA is “Not Connected”. After some time (2-10+ minutes) the connection is established and working. But in case s7 driver is restarted or connection is interrupted, communication is not re-established. However, after some time is elapsed connection is successful and working again. Firstly we thought that connection is always established only after “re-uploading” program in PLC (download to PLC), but after several tries this is not always the case.
Not sure if there is any compatibility issue or something else that we "overlooked". We are using 3.14, patch 31 version of WinCC OA.
Thank you!

Re: S7 Driver - Re-establish Connection Issue
You can have a look at the WinCC OA Documentation.
In the documentation you find hints for the configuration of a S7-1500 PLC and also information which debug flags are supported by the driver.
Possibly with the debug flags you can get more information for the connection handling in the S7 driver.
Is the connection also established only after a long period of time if only 1 S7 1500 is configured?

Re: S7 Driver - Re-establish Connection Issue
Did you activated GET/PUT option in communication settings of 1500 CPU? It is necessary for communication thru S7-driver and not necessary for S7+ driver
