WinCC OA 3.17 NGA (InfluxDB)

Post by funkey »

Hi all,

next project with WinCC OA is coming and I wanted to know if someone is already using NGA with InfluxDB in V3.17.
How is it working? Is it really faster than RAIMA?
I have to log about 25000 values every two seconds to the database.
This works quite well most of the time with RAIMA, but configuration of RAIMA with the maximum value count is a pain,
when system is updated and expanded continuously. Is NGA more stable than RAIMA?
Can an already existing project with RAIMA database be converted to NGA?
I think all powerconfigs for archiving has to be changed too?
Are there any disadvantages using NGA for now?

So please share with me your experience and knowledge :ugeek:

Thanks for your answers!!

Best regards,
Christoph

When talking about RAIMA archiving I expect that you are talking about HDB/value archives.
Is this correct?

There is no tool available for an automatic conversion of an existing project into a project using NGA.
You will have to create a new project and afterwards you can import project specific data using the ASCII manager. At the _archive configs you have to ensure that the configured NGA archive groups are used, e.g. by editing the ASCII file before doing the import.

The limitations for NGA are described in the WinCC OA Documentation.

Why is there a need to save 25.000 values in a 2 second interval?
Can you limit data by using appropriate smoothing settings?

When taking into account the information given in the following Knowledge Base article you will save about 50GB of data per day (HDB archiving).
