Hello,
We have installed workstations with WebClient in remote locations. Remote means some hundreds km away from server.
We use our own telecommunication network based mostly on fiber optic (1 connection is using leased line).
We observe problems when WebClient is trying to connect to the server. Needs several attempts to estabilish connection or (very often) gives up.
Usually manual restart Web Client several times solves this problem.
After servers changeover above problems also appears.
On workstations in local (close to server, but not the same) subnet, WebClient connects immediately.
We observe, that for local workstations we have ping response time about 0.3 – 0.4 ms
For remote this time is from 8.0 to 13.0 ms without loosing packets.
We builded testing environment to simulate this latency. Test results shows, that the problems starting appear when latency exceeds 6.0ms.
Are there in WinCC any parameter, which could be changed to solve this problem?
Best Regards

Re: WebClient connection problems
Which WinCC OA version and which operating system are you using?
Are you using the MxProxy for an encrypted communication between the server and client?

Re: WebClient connection problems
In version 3.16 there is no WebClient available.
You can use a Desktop UI or the ULC UX.
Which one is used?

Re: WebClient connection problems
We use Desktop UI.
I was sure that this is called webclient - we use this name.
Sorry.

Re: WebClient connection problems
Since 3.16 only the Desktop UI is available. The name "web client" is not used any more in this and newer versions.
If you want to get detailed information for the connection to the server you can start the UI with the option "-dbg dispatch". Then detailed information is written to the manager log file for the UI.
Maybe this information helps to find the cause.
If you need further assistance you can also get in contact with your common WinCC OA support. For the analysis of log files it is useful to get in contact with your common support as log files and additional data needs to be shared.
