Hello everyone,
Can we use demo of WinCC OA 3.16 for testing purpose of profisafe driver for S7-400/1500 PLC's to check the functionality?
or
Do we need a separate license for profisafe driver?

Re: WinCC OA 3.16 Profisafe driver functionality
As far as I know the driver can be started if the system runs without a license (30 minutes demo mode).
If you are using any other license you have to ensure that the license has the profisafe option included.
Please have a look at the WinCC OA Documentation to see the requirements for the PROFIsafe functionality, e.g. a network card of type CP1616 for each WinCC OA host connected to the PROFINET network.

Dear Leopold, thanks for the solution. However I have some queries in the solution.leoknipp wrote: ↑ Wed Nov 27, 2019 4:12 pm As far as I know the driver can be started if the system runs without a license (30 minutes demo mode).

Firstly, as mention above "the driver can be started if the system runs without a license (30 minutes demo mode)" will it work every time when we start the wincc-oa project for 30 minutes or this is the whole demo time we can used for profisafe driver.
Secondly, if this works every time for 30 minutes, then will it support full functionality of Profisafe / safety communication.
Lastly, we does have other Siemens program with licences in the system, will it affect the OA functionality in demo version.

Re: WinCC OA 3.16 Profisafe driver functionality
A license of other Siemens products will not have any influence on WinCC OA and its licenses.
If a WinCC OA system is started without a valid license it runs for 30 minutes and restarts then automatically. Then it runs again for 30 minutes and so on.
During the demo period of 30 minutes you can probably use the full range of WinCC OA.
The demo license / demo period must only be used for testing and demo purposes. Running an operational plant without a license is prohibited.

Re: WinCC OA 3.16 Profisafe driver functionality
Dear Leopold,
As mentioned by you we proceeded with the demo version of the WinCC-OA 3.16 to test Profisafe communication with S7 PLC's. However, the communication didn't happened. When checked with Siemens technical forum they mentioned "Our Profinet/Profisafe-Driver doesn't support a Demo-Mode for the Profisafe-part (only 30 minutes for the Profinet-Part is supported)."
Hence, now occurs an ambiguity whether the trial version is suitable for Profisafe testing or else, do we need license.
Please clarify

Re: WinCC OA 3.16 Profisafe driver functionality
Where in detail did you get the mentioned information from?
You can simply check if it works without a license. When you have installed the required hard- and software on your computer start WinCC OA with the PROFIsafe/PROFINET driver and check if a license problem is reported.
