Double lines with redundancy network connections aren't showed properly in the System Overview

Post by maherhodali »

We are testing redundancy network connections using IPs address in the same network segment, when we use Windows 10 only one line is showed but the redundancy works fine. If the IPs are in different segments both lines are showed correctly. In other environment with Windows Server 2016 this problem does not occur.

When using redundant network connections in WinCC OA you have to define the entries in the config file for the project and the hosts file of the operating system.
Have you done the configuration like it is described in the WinCC OA Documentation for "Redundant network connections"?
Did you check with a ping and disconnecting the networks that they work correctly on operating system level?

In the PVSS_II.log file you will see when the network connections are established.
When looking at the file you should see the log entries for the connection between the redundant systems. Maybe you can find in the log files information why the connection was not established.
If you want to have more detailed information for the connections which are established you can use the report flag "-report dispatch" for the Event- and Redu-Manager.
When using the Proxy-Manager you can also get information for the connections in the Proxy Manager using the report flag "-report dispatch".

To get information when connections are established you can use the debug flag "-dbg dispatch".

If the network connections are in the same network segment you cannot be sure that both network connections are used, because the OS decides over which connection it sends the data and the WinCC OA will close the second connection from the same source IP address.
Check your logs to see if this is the case.

To see a redundant network use an actual redundant network.

The problem is not from the configuration , since as shown it is working fine with OS Server 2016 , the problem is when using OS Windows 10 .
Any advice ?

Did you check the log entries in the PVSS_II.log file when the system is started and tries to establish the connections to the redundant server?
Have you been using the debug flag "-dbg dispatch" to get detailed information for the connections?

Possibly you get in contact with your common WinCC OA support to get assistance.
