Historical Data Replication to Another Source

Post by gshort »

Hello all,

I'm in need of some help/advice with WinCC OA. I am not familiar with WinCC OA at all, I have used a lot of Siemens programs just not this.

We have WinCC OA V3.13 onsite and what I want to do is replicate the current data which is currently stored in a bunch of .db files. From what I've seen there is an OLE DB means of access but from what I've seen this has to be ran on the same computer that WinCC OA is running however. There is also an OPC UA add-on but from what our supplier has told us this requires an extra license.

So what is the best way to replicate the existing data that is stored and then periodically push the latest data to an SQL source? This solution I'd prefer wouldn't run on the same unit as the WinCC OA instance and I'd most likely run it on an IOT2040.

Thanks in advance!

Which files are you talking about when calling them ".db files"?
Which type of archiving is used in this project?

If you want to write a selected part of data to an external database you can use the "DBLogger" feature.
For details please have a look at the WinCC OA Documentation: Special functions --> DBLogger.
