Excel Consumer from ole db WinCC OA provider

Post by Gonzalez »

Hello people,

We are experimenting with the ole db provider feature of WinCC OA in order to retrieve values of the HISTVAL (historical data of WinCC OA). With that purpose we followed the steps provided in the tutorial that we found on the help page of WinCC OA. There it indicates to manually add the OLE DB manager to the project and to register a couple of dll.

However, after completing these steps it is supposed that you can add the HISTVAL data from the data import wizard of excel that should automatically detect the WinCC OA OLE DB provider but in our case it does not appear!

If you have experienced the same issue, or if you may have any recommendation, we would appreciate it!

:)

I've experienced the same problem on Windows 10 64b with Microsoft Excel 64b, It doesn't appear the WINCC OA provider.

Possibly the problem is related to the Excel version you are using.
As far as I know you need a 32bit Excel to be able to read data provided by the WinCC OA OLE DB provider.

Yes! I was able to solve the problem. Apparently it is impossible to access to the HISTVAL with a 64bit version of Excel. Since the OleDB component is 32 bit, it will only interact with 32 bit version.

Thank you!
