Touch screen compatible tree view

The standard tree view has controls that are too small to be useful for use with touch screens.
I could set about designing my own. However, I thought it best to asks if anyone knows any tricks to make the controls bigger (we have a self imposed minimum size limit of 1cm x 1cm), or alternatively, someone has designed such a solution and is willing to share?

Probably you can solve the requirements by using a stylesheet which changes the look of the treeview.
