Ever heard of a SCADA system attaining a safety integrated level 3 certification?
Here are the top five things you need to know about safety and security in WinCC Open Architecture.
- 1. Protecting human lives: Mission critical takes on a whole new meeting when lives are at stake. Insurance system operations, alerting and notification are peril when protecting personnel in hazardous environments.
- 2. Only SIL 3 rated system on the market Since 2008 WinCC OA has maintained its SIL 3 certification and continues to meet the demands and requirements of any mission critical infrastructure. WinCC OA is the only SIL 3 rated SCADA software package on the market.
- 3. Online all the time There's no such thing as downtime for a WinCC OA system if changes need to be made. During operation WinCC OA allows for those changes to be done and in a safe and timely manner without the need to bring the system offline. Reboot or deploy changes can be done instantaneously.
- 4. Disaster recovery WinCC OA allows for 2 by 2 redundancy. This means that if a central control room got knocked out by a hurricane, another pair of redundant WinCC OA servers geographically located in another area could take over and maintain operations seamlessly.
- 5. IEC 62443/4-2 the ISA IEC 62443 series of standards defines requirements and processes for implementing and maintaining secure industrial automation and control systems. There also happens to be a certification for this standard. And yes, Win CC OA has this certification in place since 2020.
So how does WinCC OA make your operation safer and more secure? By using software that has been validated by a safety and cybersecurity Authority and you can rest easy knowing that WinCC OA has been tested and validated.
These are just a few more examples of how you could put WinCC OA to work in your organization.
