How are 3.12 (and newer) WinCC OA - projects are “registered” at Windows-Systems ?

 

3.12- (and newer) WinCC OA-projects are no longer registered within the Windows registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\...). This provides the advantage, that no administrator rights are required for creating WinCC OA-projects anymore.

The new “registry”-mechanism for WinCC OA projects under Windows is now similar to Linux/Solaris (/etc/opt/pvss/pvssInst.conf), which means, it is now “file based”.

The corresponding WinCCOA “registry”-file for Windows is located here:

C:\ProgramData\Siemens\WinCC_OA\pvssInst.conf

or

C:\ProgramData\Siemens\WinCC_OA\WebClient\pvssInst.conf  (for a Webclient-Installation)
