Short description:
In 2008 a new Oil terminal was opened at the Russian Barents Sea coast, near the village Varandey. (500km east of Murmansk)
The PVSS system omboard the terminal is for monitoring and control of the boom position and for operation of auxiliary winches and mooring winch for the shuttle tanker connected.
Actual position of the shuttle tanker and the boom is displayed graphically to the operator of the boom. The operator then uses this information to position the boom in the correct position.
Position and other data is exchanged with shuttle tanker over radios.
The project also includes installation of bow loading equipment on 3 shuttle tankers dedicated for this oil terminal.
