I wish to read in the data from a value archive (the VAnnn files) and export it into another files in my own format.
I would like to perform this in control scripting.
I have searched the help files, but there seems to be no specific functions to access compressed archive files.
I have seen that there is a va.ctl script library that has functions that seem to offer this service, but I have no idea how they work.
Can anyone give me any pointers please?

You can't read "VAnnn files" directly! But you can get the Data via dpGetPeriod. (If you have alot Data use dpGetPeriodSplit for better performance).
