Desktop UI - Failing to connect

Post by vsolomonidou »

Hi,

I've been trying to install a desktop UI application on an HMI running Windows 7. I've installed Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6.1 for Windows 7, as part of the Desktop UI installation. The problem I'm facing is that when I'm trying to connect to the server from the Windows 7 HMI I get the following error:
"your device needs to authorised to be able to connect to this project"

I suspect that this has to do with how user authorization works on windows 7, but I haven't managed to resolve this.

I've setup another desktop UI with a Windows 10 machine connecting to the same server and it works ok.

Have you got any ideas as to why this might be happening?

Thanks,
Vaso

Hi,
you have to open the Device Management panel (System Management > Settings > Device Management.) and define which WinCC OA UI connections (mobile application and Desktop UI) are allowed to connect to your project. Please refer to the WinCC OA documentation for more infos about Device Management.
Please note that starting from WinCC OA version 3.16, Windows 7 is not supported anymore!
